The Pran-Times

04-07-2005 Well, as you may have noticed, Pran-Man is back. With Star Wars Episode III, the LAST Star Wars fill of all time, I could not resist but come back from my hiatus from Pran-Man and do a storyline. I mean, hell, this is the last time I will be able to have these characters wait in line and partake in situations that are unique to a Star Wars movie year. This is the last time! Well... until Lucas goes back on his word and makes Episodes VII, VII, and IX that is. But I like to play it safe.
So does this mean Pran-Man is back for good? I don't know. I love these characters, but they still sometimes give me trouble. I can say I have enjoyed working with them for the last couple of weeks again. So as of now, Pran-Man will run on a random schedule until sometime in June or July. I will decide then if I want to go back on hiatus or return to the world of Pran-Man. If I come back, I want to do it on a regular schedule. No more of this random bullshit. hat is a GREAT way to lose readership, not update on a regular schedule. So if I come back, I'm going to try and maybe do a MWF thing, or TTh. I don't know. We'll see when we get there. As for this storyline, it's going to be updating whenever, but I'm trying to update it only on the weekends. So check back often.
Oh, and go see fucking Sin City. NOW! And may the Force be with you.

07-01-2004 I'm..."I'm back." For how long...who the hell knows? I'm out of high school now...so I guess I have no excuses. I guess it is just part laziness part creator's block. I'm going to, um, try to have a comic up every other day, but no promises. So there is a comic today (Thursday) and Saturday. Hopefully there will be one next Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Hopefully. Maybe. I really don't know what has been up with me...so fuckin' lazy. It is something that has been a problem for the last year. I might need help. Or a source of new energy. Perhaps the blood of children...no, that only makes me sleepy and hungry for more Sponge Bob Squarepants. Anyways...I suppose I should get back to doing some more comics, non? We'll see how many I can get done this summer and how on track I can be with this schedule. I'll make it a personal challange to myself. Try my best to staay on the everyother day tihng. I'm sure I'll fall off a few times, if not more. Why am I still talking? No one reads this shit!

03-08-2004 Yes, I am back. All I have to say is: I fucked up. Big time. I REALLY got behind on this comic (and that is an understatement to end all understatements). I'm not going to bother saying sorry, because nothing I say is excusable. But waht I will tell you is what I plan to do with the future of Pran-Man. So without further ado, here are my plans for the next Spring and Summer:
- Do Pran-Man at least three times a week. More if I can. Right now, there is no set schedule. I'll just upload a comic whenever I get one done, so check back daily.
- Finish the Star Wars storyline that stopped when the comic did. I'm not going to finish it now though. I am going to finish drawing the story and upload it all at once and make an announcement when I do so you can read it all in one sitting.
- Revamp the website. Seriously, this site needs it. It has looked the same since the site launced,
- Re-do the archives. I have still yet to re-upload all the old comics that were wiped out when the Keen crashed last summer. I got all of October 2002 back up, although it is not showing up when you manually go back day to day, but hopefully the problem will right itself in the Keenservers. I want to have the archive back up to date by next Friday.
- Do better things with the comic. I was reading back through some of these old comics, and really, they are shit. I can't believe I was that bad. So I am learning what NOT to do, and hopefully that will help me go in the right direction for this comic.
I am feeling good about this. I WANT to do this comic again. I WANT to work with these characters again. I feel the drive and need to do so now. That gives me hope. Well...it's 5:30 in the morning, and I haven't gotten any sleep yet, so I am tired. In think I am going to take a shower and get ready for school. THAT'S dedication for ya. Now where was that dedication during the last five months?

10-16-2003 Okay, so I lied. Many times. "Yeah, PRan-Man will start up next week. Nest week: "Yeah...Pran will be back up a little bit later..." I am pissed at myself, as I'm sure you all are. But fuck...July? Damn...I really let myself go. Well, enough is enough! I'm putting my foot down and getting back to what I love to do! Draw comics (especially Pran-Man)! Pran-Man is coming back THIS MONDAY (be sure to tell all your friends...)! I'm telling the truth this time! Honset! I already have three comics loaded onto the computer! And I'm in the process of drawing more! I'm going to see how long I can last without missing a day (weekends aren't counting, even though I will be trying to do as many weekend comics as possible). I say we even start a pool! There could be big money to be made!

Well...that is all I have to say for now. Oh, I MUST leave of with this, for all of those who may care to know and don't keep up with my LiveJournal...I have a GIRLFRIEND! Yes, that is right, I, King of Nerds, have a girlfriend. Because I guess every so often, even pigs get a chance to fly and Hell gets a snow day. Pran-Man however does not yet have a girlfriend, nor will he have one for a very long time. Sometimes I feel bad for the guy, and then I remember that his pain is funny and entertaining.

Well, that's all I have to say for now. Remember...Monday. Pran returns!

09-12-2003 Wow...two whole months. I tell ya, I'm going for some kind of new world record here. But seriously, who wants to be first to cast the first stone? Okay, let me take that back actually, for being pummeled to death by rocks is not on the top of my list of ways to die...not that I HAVE such a list mind you...aheh heh heh...ANYways...what the hell happened to might ask. Well, if you've been keeping up with my life in my LiveJournal, you'll know of how over the summer I suffered to worse case of creator's block ever and was just ultimately tired. The end of last school year just physically exhausted me and probably came close to killing me, in both the physical and metaphorical sense. I could not do anything if I tried. Nothing. Zip. Nada. Which is exactly what I acomplished over the summer. Nothing. Zip. Nada. And for that, I hate myself for. But...we can only learn from the past, and nothing more. That way we aren't doomed to repeat the same mistakes.

But, what does this have to do with the future of the comic? Well, I am happy to say that resently, I started to get over my "Enternal Tiredness" and finally start to get back to living the life I once lived. I am getting back to cartooning and writing, and hopefully soon, filming. The energy inside of me is coming back. But you can read all about that in my recent LiveJournal posts. But back to PRan-Man, he'll return. Soon. I hope. I think I'll come back slowly doing a few gags every so often (and by "every so often", I mean like every other two or three days, not weeks). Ans from there, who knows? If my evergy comes back in full soon, I may be able to get back up to doing at least five comics a week. Maybe. But for now, let's play it by ear. Just know that sometime next week, there WILL be a new comic up. I swear upon my mint on card Power of the Force II C-3P0 action figure. And for me, that actually MEANS something!

So I hope to see all you guys back here sometime next week. Until then, don't let school take away all your energy and kill the artist inside of you.

07-16-2003 Hey there. Yes, it is I, Pranas T. Naujokaitis. And despite popular belief, niether I or the comic are dead. In fact, far from it. We were both mearly taking naps. Very long naps. But...I am back. And for the time being, I am going to try to update the comic on a more frequent schedule. Yeah, the "once a month" thing really wasn't working out for me. But I am working ahead now to try to make sure that my promise stays true this time. I already have four comics uploaded into the system that will run until Saturday and more are on the way. So I think by late July I may be working at least a week and a half in advance. I'd like to thank all my friends who kicked my ass into gear to get back on the horse. I'd like to thank If it wasn't for your constant nagging about the lack of any new comics, I might not have done any new comics until September. Sure, it was annoying as hell, but I did deserve it. And so far, it seems to have done the trick. So thanks guys.

Now go and spread the word, kids. Pran-Man is back. And this time...it's personal.

Alos, on another note: New site design coming hopefully by late summer thanks to the awesome guys at Jongrah.

05-03-2003 Hey...it's been a while. Yeah, life has been...busy. Got my 11th Grade Research Paper done. So you'd think I'd be able to get SOME comics done, now that the Paper is finished. Sadly...no. I still have a lot left on my plate. My AP Studio Art Portfolio is due by May 9th. That means I need to shoot all my slides by this Monday, and only half my art is 100% finished. Also coming up is the EDDAS Magazine (my school's yearly art and lit magazine). That has to be sent off to the publishers by May 15th if we want to get it back in time by the ned of the school year. And My AP Language Comp. Test is coming up next Tuesday. Need to get ready for that. On top of it all, I've been assigned by Mr. Goodwin to paint the boards blocking off the broken ramp at our school in an artistic fashion with a potential date of completion by May 17th. So the first half of this month is going to be very...hard. So I don't think you'll be seeing any comics coming out of me for a while. I may post some art work to give you guys SOMETHING to look at, but no new Pran-Mans. Sorry about this, but I think you can all see that I have a lot of more "important" shit to get done before I start focusing on the comic again. But hey, after May 17th, I'll have a few weeks before I have to deal with SATS and final exams. Maybe, just maybe, I can get a large batch of comics done in that span of time. Hopefully... Wish me luck with everything, guys.

Note: X-Men 2 kicked ass! Best comic book film EVER! It is THAT damn good! Go see it, bub!

02-14-2003 Hey guys. Sorry that the comics have not been uploading until the late afternoon but Keenspace is still ahving a few small problems with their servers. We'll just have to wait it out. Speaking of updating...This weekend I'm going to try to get all of the comics for the year 2002 back into the system. I'm also going to work on all the link, archive, and other such like pages. So hopefully by next Monday, all that will be done. I have a lot of crap ahead of me this weekend.

Oh, I know how to relieve my stress this weekend! Go see Daredevil the Movie! I saw it last night at 9:30 at a Special Showing. It was awesome. Now, it wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be, but it still satisfied me. Visualy, I gave the flick 5 stars out of five. I mean, it was like the comic book had come to life! I think I wet myself during the hour and a half. Storywise, I gave it between 3 and 3.5 stars. I mean, some parts draged on and didn't seem to fit together. And you could tell at some points that some stuff had been cut out. I really would have liked to see the 20 extra minutes of sub-plot involving Froggy Nelson and Coolio invlving a murder case. But, there's always the Director's Cut, right? So my overall rating is 4 stars out of five.

Now, I'm sure if I was a hardcore Horn Head (a hardcore Daredevil fan for all you comic illiterate fools out there) I would have hated the movie, but I've never been that into DD, even though I do think he has always been an awesome characters and one of today's best superheroes. But I'm too much of a hardcore Web Head (hence me hating Spider-Man the Movie so much). But seriously, go see it. And after you do so, go to your local comic book store and pick up a copy of the comic! Bendis has been doing some great things with the Man Without Fear. So this weekend, if you were lucky enough to grab yourself a date, go see Daredevil.

02-09-2003 Oh man...what a long and twisted, twisted road this has been...but for now it looks like all the troubles with the keen are over and done with. The auto-updating and archives appear to be working again. Thank God...Thank Keenspace. Now all that remains to be fixed is now up to me. I need to add in all the old comics and rebuild the archive and rebuild the extra pages (i.e. links, cast, etc.). That may take a while so please bear with me. I plan to get a majority of that work done next weekend. But hey, at least the comic is finally up again, right?

Anywho...now that things appear to be back up, new comics will resume this TUESDAY! (Feb. 11, 2003) Make sure you tell all your friends, for my readership levels were hit hard due to the crash. But now that we are back up, I hope all my readers left (all three of you) will help spread the word. So until Tuesday...

02-03-2003 Ok, some things have been fixed. The archives can now be read without an error message showing up. I have to resort to my keenspace member site URL (http://pranman.keenspace.com) to do so, but I'll live. So be sure you go back and catch up on the current storyline. CLICK HERE to begin doing so. Also, I won't be able to add any more of the pages (links, cast, etc.) nor any more old comics to the archive until after Wednsday. I have a lot of work ahead of me the next to days, and unfortunatly, Pran-Man is not my top priority at the moment. But this weekend, I swear, I'm going to try to get it all back up. So cross your fingers, folks. And thanks for your patience. It has been a pretty rough two weeks for me.
